ADE Green – Plastic No More

todayDecember 1, 2022

Background

New European laws restrict single-use plastic. That’s good isnt it ?

Plastic: nasty or fantastic?
Plastic is a great invention. Much like gunpowder, it can destroy planet Earth when used irresponsibly, but if applied sustainably this material works its magic. Plastic is lightweight, affordable and versatile  and  often provides great temporary solution for our one time needs. Responsible plastic use is possible… It all starts – and theoretically never ends – with circularity.

How does that work in practice? How do we move towards a lasting change in our impermanent environments?

At this stage, plastic is Too durable to be disposable
Let’s be clear, single-use plastic needs to end, as this is now the planet’s single biggest pollutant.

More or less 50% of our annual plastic production is disposable single-use packaging. Every day we throw uncountable amounts of plastic with toxins lasting forever and polluting oceans, soil and living organisms. Recycling sounds great in theory but is hard to handle on a large scale. So much for the bad news. Good news is that, precisely because this durable material does not decompose easily, well-designed plastic products are more than suitable for reuse.

ADE Green comes with a bunch of solutions how we can keep plastic in the loop. Switching from plastic packaging products to systems where packaging is delivered as a service will lead us toward circularity with minimal value loss and environmental damage. This requires a change in mindset and strategic approach, a radical departure from the mentality that’s known as ‘Take, Make and Waste’.

How does this tranlate to our national regulations
The latest law “Loi du 9 juin 2022 relative à la réduction de l’incidence de certains produits en plastique sur l’environnement” forces a reduction in single use plastic and its about time to start thinking differently, sustainably, circularily.

The most positive is to see that the evnet industrie is changing, adapting. Music has always been a passionate element to share common goals and be a rebellious movement for a better future.
